World of Warcraft – Item Upgrading The upgrade option lets players boost an item's gear rating up to 700 points and add a bonus. Items can be upgraded by having them in inventory and heading to the kiln. Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like a perfectly rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading. Weapons Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also have a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. Additionally, many weapons have an added bonus that is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a single unit. This bonus may be more than the damage a weapon upgrade alone can cause. The cost of upgrading a weapon is contingent on its rarity and level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one. Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is usually an excellent thing, it can have some negative consequences too. In the case of items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance), upgrading them may render them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll. It is possible to upgrade armor items to increase their performance. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, it will boost its defense base while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it can sometimes reroll down to a lower value. The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain upon upgrading, as well as the relative value of those stats. This means that a change from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in a weapon gaining 3% of attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike three times less, since it is an absolute number. A weapon can also be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the menu for items. There are four fountains in all each of which requires you to complete a unique side quest that involves the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed the main side quest and completed the corresponding fountain you'll be able to speak to any Great Fairy to open up the menu for upgrading your armor. Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and between five Rubies or ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. For example the Champion Leathers could be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a good-sized group of enemies in most cold climates and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, giving the protection needed to survive a full on raid with a few of your friends. It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll need to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of a Mage. Generally speaking, item upgrade 'll want to save these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer, but it can be useful to have a few upgrades to your chest armor and helmets to allow you to stealth around certain monsters. Potions Potions are liquid substances that, when consumed give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five types of potions, each with particular effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to improve their level of effectiveness. Additionally item upgrader of certain potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them. Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be earned through crafting them on a table, or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. These can be upgraded by visiting an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. As with other upgrades to items trinkets, trinkets can be traded out at any time without losing their stats. Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and sometimes in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available using tokens, gold, or fragments from a rare trinket. The upgrade of a trinket can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing an entirely new one. You can upgrade their trinket for as little 12 tokens. The new trinket will come with the same base ilvl of the previous one, and will have an additional upgrade bonus of 1. Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold. In general players should make upgrades to their top-priority items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other pieces of gear that they will not be replacing in the near future (for instance an earring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when selecting which items to upgrade. For instance If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tankers, they should prioritize upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and chest. When they are no longer useful, trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional 1percent bonus. However, a re-upgrade is likely to destroy the old trinket, unless it is salvaged with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, however it is still cheaper than buying a new one.
